Congratulations to Michelle Ross, Deary Junior High, for placing first in Latah SWCD's 2010 Write to Bike Essay Contest! Michelle's essay, "My Hopeful Wilderness," charmingly addressed this year's theme: Conservation Habits = Healthy Habitats. It was very well written, followed all the contest rules, and explored several conservation habits such as picking up litter (or not littering in the first place), planting trees, and riding a bike or walking instead of driving a vehicle. As you can probably guess, the first place prize (which will be presented to Michelle at an award assembly later this month) is a bike.
