The 23rd annual Conservation Awareness Days field trip to Spring Valley Reservoir will be held April 29 and 30, 2010. Fifth and/or sixth grade classes from Bovill/Deary Elementary, Genesee School, Juliaetta Elementary, McDonald School, Moscow Charter School, Potlatch Elementary, Russell School, St. Mary's School, and Troy Elementary are scheduled to attend on one of the two dates.Home school students are also invited and encouraged to attend!
Each day will begin with a Washington State University Raptor Club presentation. Following that presentation, students will divide into six groups and rotate through the remaining presentations, including:
- Aquatic Macroinvertebrates, John Pfeiffer, EcoAnalysts, Inc.
- Fishing, Tiege Ulschmid, Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game
- Forestry, Robert Barkley, Idaho Dept. of Lands
- Outdoor Survival Skills, Marvin Pillers, Latah Search and Rescue
- Salmon Migration, Megan Wandag, Dworshak Fisheries Complex
- Soils, Dave Uberuaga, WSU/USDA Ag Research Service
Additional volunteers assist the lead instructors named above to make this an outstanding experience for Latah County youth.
