Annual Poster Contest for Students in Grades 4-6


  1. 4th - 6th grade students residing in Latah County are invited to participate
  2. Contact: Kari Schwendiman, 208-882-4960 ext. 113 or kschwendiman@latahsoil.org
  3. Poster size: 14" x 22"
  4. May use paint, crayons, colored pencils, markers, charcoal, and paste-on materials
  5. Students are encouraged to do their own work but may receive planning assistance from parents and teachers
  6. Please include student name, teacher name, and school name on back of poster; home school students please include contact information
  7. Entries are due Tuesday, September 22, 2009 by 5:00 pm
  8. Please deliver entries to the Latah SWCD office, located at 220 East 5th St., Rm. 212, Moscow, ID 83843 (above the post office--enter on south side of building)
  9. TEACHERS: if you have several or all of your students participating, Latah SWCD staff will gladly pick up posters from your classroom
  10. Poster will be on display at the Latah County Courthouse September 24 - October 6, 2009; posters will be judged by the Latah Board of County Commissioners October 5
  11. Judging priorities:
  • Conservation Message - 50 points maximum
  • Visual Effectiveness - 30 points maximum
  • Originality - 10 points maximum
  • Universal Appeal - 10 points maximum

DISTRICT PRIZES:

1st - Digital camera ($150 value)

2nd - Acrylic paint set ($40 value)

3rd - Artist pencils ($20 value)

District winners will advance to the Division contest to be held in Moscow 10/7/2009. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Division winners will advance to the state contest. The 1st place state winner will advance to the national contest. Prizes are awarded at each level.
